All details about registration (how to register, fees, deadlines, categories...) are available at the Registration section

Deadline for registration: 26 August 2014

Registration is mandatory for ALL participants (including onsite participants).
All those works with no author registered by 26 August 2014 will not be included in the Scientific Program, which will be published including only accepted works with at least one author formally registered.

Abstract submission: Abstract submission closed!

Those authors who submitted an abstract before 12 August 2014 should have received the formal notification of abstract acceptance/rejection. Those authors who did not receive any notifications, please contact us at as soon as possible

The list of ACCEPTED ABSTRACTS can be consulted by clicking here

Scientific program: the definitive version of the scientific program will be available by mid-September (participants will be informed about it by email). A preliminary version of the scientific program will be available on the website by the end of August.

The conference will start on Wednesday 1 October 2014 at 11:00 AM, although there will be a registration period from 9:00 to 11:00 AM (in any case, attendees will be able to register at the secretariat desk at any time during the conference). The conference will finish on Friday 3 October 2014 around 7:00 PM

BrownWalker  Press
Proceedings: the proceedings of the meeting will be formally released as a book titled "Multidisciplinary approach for studying and combating microbial pathogens". The book will be published by BrownWalker Press, which will ensure an adequate international distribution
and availability of the book.

Conference participants are entitled to submit one full paper to be considered for inclusion in this book. Deadline for submission: 22 October 2014. More details in the Call for Papers section

The III International Conference on Antimicrobial Research - ICAR2014, which will be held in Madrid (Spain) from 1 to 3 October 2014, will be a forum to communicate current research priorities and progress, and to identify new approaches and research opportunities in the following fields:

Antimicrobial natural products

Antimicrobial materials science and surface chemistry

Antimicrobial microbes

Antimicrobials in consumer products

Antimicrobial chemistry

Antimicrobial physics

Non-antibiotic biocides

Techniques and Methods

Clinical and medical microbiology, infectious diseases and antimicrobials. Public health

Strengthening of innate immune system as antimicrobial strategy

Antimicrobial resistance. Mechanisms of action of antimicrobial agents

Attenuation of virulence as antimicrobial strategy

It is in the spirit of this conference to attract researchers from a broad range of academic disciplines that are contributing in the fighting against harmful microorganisms, not only those more traditionally involved in this research area (microbiologists, biochemists, genetists, clinicians...), but also experimental and theoretical/computational chemists (rational design of antimicrobial compounds, chemical synthesis, analogs, surface modification of materials...), physicists (radiation, nano-emulsions (surface tension), ultrasounds, antimicrobial materials, properties of nano-materials...) or engineers (technologies).

Please, take some time to read the detailed list of Topics that will be discussed at the conference.

The previous edition of ICAR was held in Lisbon (Portugal)  during 21-23 November 2012 and was attended by around 425 researchers from nearly 60 countries. We expect this year’s edition to be as successful as the previous one in terms of quality, relevance and attendance.

The Proceedings Book of the ICAR2012 Conference was entitled "Worldwide Research Efforts in the Fighting against Microbial Pathogens: From Basic Research to Technological Developments" (ISBN: 978-1-61233-636-7), edited by A. Mendez-Vilas and published by BrownWalker Press (Pub. date: 2013)

Madrid is the capital and largest city of Spain.

Madrid has a wide cultural offer, thanks to a rich cultural heritage. The city has a lot of monuments that have become in a symbol for the city: the Cibeles Fountain (la fuente de La Cibeles), Neptuno Fountain, Alcalá Gate (la Puerta de Alcalá), Sol Gate (la Puerta del Sol)… You will love to walk along the streets and discover all of them: gardens, parks, palaces, charming buildings, historical places...

Besides, Madrid has three of the most important art galleries in the world. We are talking about the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofía Museum and Art Center. All of them house the most brilliant works of art of the whole painting History. Works that have been made by the most prestigious and well known artists such as Goya, Velázquez, Picasso, Monet, Degas, Dalí, Rembrandt…
The three Museums are located at the so-called Art Walk (Paseo del Arte), a nice area, full of trees, monuments and emblematic buildings.
